They had stores in the US for a few years:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Smith_%28retailer%29#United_States

There was a piece of protoboard at the electronics shop near me a few months ago that had "Dick Smith Electronics"  printed on it. Wonder how old it was...
