While pursuing the folly of a high-voltage transfer reference for testing a stack of used 5.5 and 6.5 digit DMMs I've acquired, I came across an
interesting device called the USBHV from EMCO High Voltage (self-link). It's a USB powered and controlled high-voltage power source. It looks like it pairs one EMCOs HV modules with a USB DAC/ADC to provide, depending on the model, up to 2000V @ 1W, of positive or negative voltage.
I found
one on ebay for $395. That's too rich for my blood, but it does make me curious. Do any of you have one of these? How's the software? How about programmability?
