Siglent SDG5162 Arbitary Waveforms
« on: January 09, 2014, 03:40:59 am »
We have a Siglent SDG5162 Arbitrary Function Generator in our lab which we picked up for generating waveforms.

I wanna put a tutorial together on the subject of Arbitrary Waveforms so anyone with an idea or two please let me know.

Thanks

I'm thinking about a tutorial on using the EasyWave software to create custom waveforms.

I wrote an opening paragraph....it goes something like this:

The SDG-5162 is part of the SDG 5000 family of DDS based Arbitrary Waveform Generators manufactured by Siglent. The 5162 is the company’s flagship model which produces a maximum frequency of 160 MHz.

The 5162 utilizes Siglent’s proprietary “Easy Pulse” technology, providing two DDS output channels which can be configured to produce Sine, Square, Ramp, Pulse, Gaussian-Noise or Arbitrary waveforms. Outputs can be modulated with AM, DSB-AM, PM, FM, FSK, ASK and PWM.

Arbitrary waveforms can be created by the end-user with the included PC based program called “Easy Wave” then uploaded to the 5162 with USB, or the software can be used to directly control the 5162.

This tutorial focuses on the creation and use of “arbitrary” waveforms.

wow, that is great, I have a SDG1050, a very great generator, I just want to disassemble it or do some other, maybe I can join you.

Downloading the Software

Siglent's EasyWave software application can be downloaded from here:

hxxp://www.siglent.com/en/server/download.aspx?nodecode=119004002003
(NOTE: change hxxp to http)

In order for EasyWave to work correctly, additional software, called NI-VISA, is needed.

NI-VISA can be downloaded directly from here:

hxxp://www.ni.com/visa/
(change hxxp to http)

NI-VISA stands for "National Instruments - Virtual Instrument Software Architecture".

I'm running NI-VISA 5.4 for Windows on my XP driven workbench computer.

2.             Win7 - 32bit and 64bit

3.             Vista - 64bit
