Problem & fix connecting Sensepeek probes to Siglent scopes
« on: March 16, 2023, 07:06:54 pm »
Hi everybody.

I recently invested in a set of those brilliant Sensepeek gravity probes, but immediately ran into a problem when connecting to my Siglent scope.
Being an entry level scope, the Siglent SDS12xx series does not have a metal ring that detects x10 probes. What is does have, is some cuts that allow the BNC jack to be pushed through the case.
Now, that causes a problem, because the spring loaded x10 pin goes into the cut in the case and the probe is stuck. To get it loose, you need to pry the pin with some tweezers and retract it.

To fix this, I 3-D printed a small ring that fills the gap in the scope, allowing the x10 pin to slide without locking into the cut.

The STL of the part is attached. You may need to trim it a bit with a cutter knife depending on your 3Dprinter. Install it with the gap in the 8 o'clock position , that way the pin never slides across the gap.
