advice for purchasing oscilloscope
« on: July 20, 2020, 06:31:24 pm »
hello everyone, I want to buy an inexpensive digital oscilloscope and I wanted to ask for advice.

I see:

Siglent SDS1202X-E
OWON XDS 3202E
Gw instek GDS1102-B
Rigol DS1202z-e

reading the various posts I'm thinking of the siglent, but I wanted advice from those who are experts and have tried them.

I will use it to test and repair car audio and home audio components.

All of those will show audio signals, no problem.

Do you own a decent multimeter and soldering iron? If not, factor that into your budget even if it means not buying the Siglent.

(and for car audio you might want something more portable...)

I will buy a siglent,

Sds1102x or sds1202x-e?
SDS1202X-E is better featured and has much faster processor than older SDS1102X.

The SDS1102X do offer a 8" display and 50 Ohm inputs if they are important however the 7" display SDS1202X-E is a better all round DSO.
Carefully check the datasheets here:

Hi Ricc. I can only speak about my own GW-Instek GDS-1054B, which is just a lower end model of the oscilloscope you considering. I'm very happy with it, since it does the job very well and having four channels is useful. I needed its large memory record depth 10 Mpts. The scope apparently can be installed with apps from GW-Instek. Size is rather larger than other lower end scopes.

You should also consider the Keysight InfiniiVision 1000 series, particularly the DSOX1102A or the newer DSOX1202A.

This thread would have helped you a lot. But it fell apart... Maybe you still can read something interesting besides the typical scope advices.

of these oscilloscopes that you put I would choose the siglent.
If you can spend a little more, around € 500 you have the 4 channel Siglent SDS1104x-e:
https://www.batronix.com/shop/oscilloscopes/Siglent-SDS1104X-E.html

Or around 600 € you have the Micsig 4-channel portable and with battery:
