Agilent DSO6104l and memory use?

Hello,

I don't understand the use of the memory in the Agilent DSO6104L (this is a rackversion of the DSO6104A)

In "DSO6104l_run.jpg" is an acquisition with high res mode in run modus.
There is 1Mpts used from the 8Mpts memory.

In "DSO6104l_single.jpg" the acquisition with high res mode is now in single mode. This is the only change.
Now is 4Mpts used.

I suppose that in high res mode a sample is 16 bit and in normal mode a sample is only 8 bit. And the 8Mpts in the datasheet should better called 8MB

But why is in single-mode 4 times so much samples as in run-mode?

Can anybody this please explain.

Read the manual. In run mode the oscilloscope cuts the memory in half to use double buffering (half the memory for acquisition, half the memory to process for display).
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Hello,

I would understand half the memory in run mode for double buffering and again half for high res-mode. That would give 2Mpts.

But it is only 1 Mpts. From where comes the third half?

Hello,

the save of 8000000 pts ASCII XY data file to USB-stick needs about 50 minutes.

The file is 178MB.

Download it as binary.

And then use "M1WV" (M1 Waveform Viewer) to save as CSV or XLS.

Another option maybe can be this tool VISA TM Data Capture: http://jahonen.kapsi.fi/Electronics/VISA_TM_DC/
I think it allows you to save as csv, I don't remember if it is faster through the LAN.

Also "Agilent IntuiLink" can open binary files, but it can't export to csv, so I add other tool in attachments "binToAscii", it convet from bin to csv.

If someone knows more tools, please share.
My English can be pretty bad, so suggestions are welcome. ;)

Memory depth 1 pod /both pod
Standard memory 8 Mpts/4 Mpts
"
But with 1pod on one has:
0.1ms/div autorun one have 500MSa/s that is 0.5Mpts
0.1ms/div single one have 2GSa/s that is 2Mpts
0.2ms/div autorun one have 250MSa/s that is 0.5Mpts
0.2ms/div single one have 500MSa/s that is 1Mpts
0.5ms/div autorun one have 100MSa/s that is 0.5Mpts
0.5ms/div single one have 250MSa/s that is 1,25Mpts

Now analog off:
0.5ms/div autorun one have 400MSa/s that is 2Mpts

Where are the 8Mpts?

It is really simple. The memory is shared between all channels and double buffering. In single mode double buffering is switched off.
Do you have the 8Mpts option? It doesn't seem like it. BTW this is what I really don't like about Keysight scopes. The memory depth on the badge is very far from what is actually useable.

My DSO6104L has the option mem8M and 8MB (dso6104l_single_10ms)
I belief this is standard.

In the datasheet of Agilent Technologies InfiniiVision 6000L Series Low-Profile Oscilloscopes there is no indication of shared memory.
