Are these worth anything?
« on: August 15, 2013, 03:01:18 am »
Hi chaps,

after finding a recent Tektronix scope bargain my tail was up, so I scoured the local small ads and found a man with a garage full of allsorts of golden oldies.

To cut a long story short, I took the details of a small few -  just to see...
Are these worth anything at all these days, or more importantly, does anyone still buy them?  :-//
 (Wouldn't mind the 492 + 6011A for personal toys).

Must be from the days before they invented dogs...

it has a big fat probe which is connected to an Argon gas bottle!

Forgot to mention that the Tek 492 doesn't turn on.

Would be great if it was just an internal fuse and it could be bought 'as spares', for silly money. :-+

I like the look of the 6062A, and the 6011A's not bad either...

6062A doesn't go low enough for my needs, but it is a solid looking piece of kit.

Fluke 9010A - popular with people who fix arcade games, but it depends on what pods are included

Philips PM 5127 - very nice, but not worth very much money

HP 1210A - do you mean 1201A?  Those are still popular for audio work, because a) no fan and b) 100uV/div

Fluke 6011A  - interesting, but really a boat anchor - also not very reliable, and hard to repair

HP 54200A  - museum piece - only has a 6 bit ADC, and no knobs at all

Fluke 6062A - not so well liked because of the crappy keyboard/no spinner knob UI, and not very reliable - but OK if it's working

Tektronix 492  - still popular, but prices have been dropping a lot - can be hard to repair if you don't have boards to swap - options 01 02 03 very desirable

Thanks for the input.

I suppose now it's just down to how low the fella is prepared to sell them, as I was thinking of cleaning them up and selling them on.

The kenwood cs-4125a is a fine 20 Mhz scope but would only be worth around 100-150 used.

For a 20 mhz scope its well built.

Thanks

In Brazil all of that should cost a lot!  :o
The expensive import tax should give you a chance to sell the equipment at a good price.
Definitely buy them, and if there's something you won't use, resell it.

Hi,

Did a deal with the owner, imagining that people would snap these up...

it's true about things costing a lot here but then again, the overwhelming majority of people have almost no money (It's total rubbish that Brazil has new wealth)  :blah:  :bullshit:. Couple that with the fact that, just like children, Brazilians only want the latest products - as if things have better build-quality now  :-DD, then it becomes a major hurdle to sell items such as these.

Oh well, it was a good idea..

 Next!

You where unable to sell anything? How about sending stuff abroad?
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

As of yet, put up 22 adverts and have yet to sell anything! Would be great to sell them abroad. Maybe thats the solution.
For example, he has the Fluke 9010 with 3 pods for $200 in almost new condition!

Not even a question from any punters?

I love electronics, however I don't have the money to buy anything off of him. The plan had been to sell a couple of items and use that money to buy some toys for me!
