MK-168 Transistor Tester, weird characters
« on: April 04, 2015, 08:22:16 pm »
Version 1.11K

I had one of these earlier last year (might have been an earlier Version)
but gave it to my mate because he liked it so much.

Well I bought another and it arrived today but when measuring 78* Regulators and some Diodes
I get weird characters on the screen like on the picture below, I don't remember my old one doing this
can anyone confirm if theirs do the same or if mine is faulty
or maybe the older ones didn't try to measure Regulators

Hi HKJ

Great review and nice detailed pictures  :-+

looking at the links you posted at the bottom took me here
http://www.mikrocontroller.net/svnbrowser/transistortester/Software/Markus/
and it looks like we might be able to upgrade the firmware on these ?

I wonder what version the one you did the review on was ?

This device is the topic of one of the ongoing thread "$20 LCR ESR Transistor checker project". I ran into a similar glitch that the software developer fixed. The issue is that some LCD controllers require some wait time before updating, otherwise characters got corrupted. Here's a link to some messages discussing it:
