Anyone recognizing this 12-pin instrument connector?
« on: September 18, 2024, 07:08:34 am »
Hi,

Does anyone happen to recognise this instrument connector (type, brand)? It has 12 pins in 4 rows (2-4-4-2), a larger notch/key at the right upper corner, and smaller notches at three other corners.

It's present on the Racal 6103 Digital Radio Test Set and used to power a mobile phone and communicate with it (using the Agilent E6392-60001 accessory).

I already took a quick browse through some supplier's catalogs but did not yet find this type.

Thanks!
Rudi

Pretty sure the brand is Hirose, or at least, Hirose make something quite similar RP13A-12PD-13SC however your one is 12P and that one is 13p.

It might be something custom. Have a look around the Hirose website.

It's also possible Hirose are making a copy of some other connector design. So keep that in mind.
The fact that the keyways are arcs on your one and square on this one makes me wonder if Hirose is copying the design of someone else

Thanks a lot Psi!

Indeed, this Hirose connector looks like it is the same one! And, unless I am mistaken, the one you refer to actually has 12 pins, just like mine (not 13).

Perhaps not surprising there is a Japanese connector on this device. Even though it is a Hewlett Packard (/Agilent) device, it says it is made in Japan and also inside several PCBs have "Made in Japan" written on them ;-)

Oh, sorry, I was indeed looking at another one, RP13A-12PD-13SC, as sold from TME.

That is one one I am looking for! (At least, a plug that goes in there ;-)

Thanks again!

ah, i see.  RP17 is 12p

Digikey has some Hirose RP17 plugs and connects. See if any of those looks right.
