Siglent SDG6000X changing duty cycle glitch
« on: May 01, 2024, 11:30:40 pm »
Hi

I have a couple of SDG6022X, hacked of course, bought partly since I would use the synchronization feature between 2 units to do 3 phase PWM for switch mode control.

I did some tests on one unit, and when the duty cycle is changed it makes a nasty glitch, the output goes low for some time. That means I cannot use it for controlling switch modes and other nice stuff.

Anyone know if this glitch is fixed? (version I have is 6.01.01.36)

Anyway, I have a dirt cheap china Feeltech arb generator, and it does not make a glitch. Go figure....

Regards

Klaus

2 years older than the most recent version:

I don't see it mentioned in the revision history in the file tautech linked to but why not try updating just in case.
I know it does not help but my Rigol DG4162 acts in the same way, very bad indeed when testing locked antiphase PWM motor controler. Really annoying on an expensive instrument. It's been discuessed here before and IIRC other DDS type generators do it too while some don't.

On the SDG6000X, is it possible to modulate the dutycycle using either the other channel or external input and if so, does THAT work as one would expect?

My SDG6052X with FW 6.01.01.36R8 doesn't output any glitches when the duty cycle of a square wave is altered.

Duty cycle modulation works flawlessly of course, as demonstrated here (reply #1148) with the help of a Track Plot of the duty cycle measurement across a record:

I updated to 6.01.01.36R8 as listed

It still has the glitch. Occurs every time as far as I can see. See attached image

I have a SDG6022X, Hardware 03-00-00-78-38

Settings:
Square, 100kHz, 5Vpp, 2.2VDC offset, 10% duty

The other SDG I have, does not produce the glitch, same HW and same SW version
The one that produces the glitch has serial number that is higher (newer instrument). See image of versions.
