Tektronix G-8680-04 XY Plotter board/kit - what is it?

I bought a bunch of stuff from university surplus recently. There was a box of 5 of these boards/kits, only one of which had ever been opened. The board silkscreen has (c) 1995 G-86860-04 XY Plotter on it. It looks to be an option kit and comes with the PCB mounted to an aluminum bracket, a couple of EPROMs and a few screws.

Any ideas on that this fits? I have thus far come up empty with my web searches.

I 'think' these are XY plotter output boards for 2230 series oscilloscopes. Guess I'll have to find a manual for the 2230 to try and confirm that.

Yes, the optional plotter board. Gives a X and Y signal along with a pen control, so you could get a hard copy in analogue form from the stored digital waveform, by simply connecting a regular and common ( at that time) XY analogue plotter to it. 

plugs into the scope, replacing the blank plate at the side, and the 2 EPROMS are the updated firmware with the menu option to plot the waveform. When you press plot it enables the output, and you see the beam move slowly along the screen drawing the waveform, then drawing the display settings, then the second trace ( if enabled and you had the dual trace scope), before going back to the regular display.
