It appears that you can pretty much drive it entirely from the touchscreen but I don't think this is especially useful as knobs are just better for basic functions.

Try it with a wireless USB mouse... You can put it next to your dut on your workbench, no more need to reach out to the scope on the shelf... Very convenient...

I always thought feet are a under-used appendages when it comes to controlling stuff - a foot-operated mouse would allow complete hands-free control!

One thing in particular about the touchscreen - for any function that starts by pressing one of the function keys below the screen, your finger is aready close to the menus onscreen, so it's actually quicker to use them than move to the select knob.

Slightly disappointed you're not using your toes, that would make for a reasonably entertaining video.

I suppose you could do it with a lot of practice - touchscreen operating scope on the floor with an external monitor on the bench. Or a foot operated mouse - looks like you can potentially operate everything with a mouse..

Keysight should add mouse support to the A series as well.

I prefer to use a mouse instead of the touchscreen simply to avoid getting grubby paw prints all over it.

Looks like Mehdi over at Electroboom is sharing the Keysight love too. 3 minutes in I laughed out loud.

I am not sure if I would like the touch so much but one thing that seems to be really great on the new 3000T series are the extra measurements and not just limited to 4 as in the older 3000 and 7000 models.
I think the thing about touch is that it's so common on other devices now that you tend to just start using it instinctively, especially on a new unit when you're not familiar with the knob locations and menu structure.

It appears that you can pretty much drive it entirely from the touchscreen but I don't think this is especially useful as knobs are just better for basic functions.

The scope can be driven 100% from the touch screen or 100% from the front panel. At Keysight scopes HQ, we've all found ourselves using a combination of the touch screen and buttons/knobs. To each their own.

I can't say enough good things about Mehdi & his channel. electroBOOM is a great avenue to get more people interested in electronics. And his videos couldn't be funnier even if he had a staff of writers.

What an idiot! Holding a wire while using it to short something!  :palm:
And disconnect the plus of a car battery before the minus?  :palm:  :scared:

There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

My posts disappeared for unknown reasons so let's say it again. The custom boot screen works on my DSOX2002A and I like this feature very much. There is a sweet lady on my screen. I will leave her up to your imagination.

I think he is funny and his antics drive home some lessons that may otherwise be learned the hard way by others.

I think you'll find Mehdi knows exactly what he's doing, that's what makes it funny, but I accept it's not always clear at first that he does.

It's not at all unusual for his videos to achieve a million views.

The original post says it should work on X2000, X3000 and X4000 series.

I don't have this scope either, but I've sized some nice Fallout themed pictures that someone might find tasteful :)

Evil plan:

(1) Make Jpeg with text saying "POWER UP SELF TEST FAIL" / "IRREPARABLE ERROR KS2001"

(2) Boot scope

(3) Offer Lab manager $50 for defective scope "for scrap".

(4) Profit!  :P :-DD

You forgot to plug the scope to a programmable timer set so the scope never gets through boot screen and looks like it keeps restarting with an error message.

Now that's just plain evil! Assuming the Lab manager is a complete imbecile lol.

We have had some hijinx around the office with a "cracked glass screen" variant.

Or easier, change the error text to

"OVERCURRENT WARNING - REMOVE POWER IMMEDIATELY! - FIRE HAZARD"
