This is the splash image I had created for when I won a beautiful DSOX3104T during scope month but for some reason Daniel gave all the scopes to other people :(
There is a spot that had been reserved for it on my bench too, now sadly there sits a Rigol in its place.

btw, should Keysight ever decide to send me a scope I promise to keep this splash screen on it forever.

I was watching the Keysight’s youtube and realized it is able to make a custom boot screen.

I do not have the scope but thought it might be fun having a thread for uploading custom boot screens.

This is the link which describes the file format.
https://www.facebook.com/keysightscopes/posts/10153461095162654
Code: [Select]
Here are the file type details:
1. Must be named “splashscreen”
2. Must be a .jpg, .png, or .bmp
3. Must be 800x480 or smaller for 2000 and 3000 X-Series; or 800x600 for the 4000 X-Series.

This is the link how to change your boot screens.
Code: [Select]
Utility -> File Explorere -> Press to go \usb -> select the file "splashscreen.png" -> Load File

Please let me know if my files work with DSOX 2000/3000 or not. :)

Great film. Great soundtrack. Great choice.

I can confirm that this stuff works and it is an useful feature. (My camera has a bad white balance, sorry for that.)
Sorry, I cannot resist:
2 channels - two nip... -ehm- ....  vertical knobs for adjusting the enlargement (some call it sensitivity), also two extra for vertical adjustment of each -ehm-  channel ....
I wonder what kind of "alien" you would show on the boot screen if you would have a 4 channel scope  :-DD

Nice! different kind of HP. :)

Especially since they were bought out, and the formula was changed to conform to the sweeter US tastes, which made it totally unpalatable to those who used to enjoy it.

Then I would recommend the Tiptree variant or, possibly, one of the Guinness versions.

Scope in a scope....

Didn't realise you had a new scope!

So how are you finding your new MSOX3104T scope compared to the old MSO6034?

Another giveaway scope?  :scared:

@topic: How do you get rid of the custom boot screens, they don't show up in the file explorer util (as far as I know)...

Only just got it today ( Thanks Daniel/Keysight   :-+ :-+ :-+ )  so a bit early to say, but initial impressions from some random playing....
Touchscreen looks very useful and definitely not a gimmick, even before considering the zone trigger - I already find myself using it for selections from longer menus, and ability to type labels, filenames etc. looks very handy. Seems fairly resistent to fingermarks.
Some useful new measure functions that I could really have used in the past, like pulse/edge counting.
Additional push functions on buttons are well thought out and very useful

The only downsides so far are  :
Longer startup times ( approx 3x)
Front panels LEDs are possibly a bit too bright.
The lower screen resolution is noticeable but I think more of a cosmetic issue than anything serious
No LAN/VGA as standard, but compared to the scope cost it's a minimal extra cost, and there are cheaper homebrew options for LAN. Does seem a little penny-pinching not to include LAN as standard at least on the 3000 series.

Nothing so far has annnoyed me, even the unfamiliar panel layout, which is a good start.

FWIW, I've been finding my relatively new MSO3054A gets a lot more use than the MSO7104B that's also on the bench. The UI on the 3000 isn't quite as zippy as the 7000, and the resolution isn't as good either, but I think I find the form factor more convenient. I certainly don't regularly use any of the extra features. What is a bit disconcerting when switching between the two scopes is that the various controls and buttons are in subtly different places, so it's not uncommon for me to find that I have a bit of wavy wondering finger action when switching between scopes.

Having a similar screen layout to the 5000/6000/7000 series despite the switch from vxWorks to WinCE is a positive bonus.

I find the UI slightly slower on the X3000A, and sometimes find the rotary encoder on the timebase misses a click or two. Not sure if they've fixed that in the X3000T.

Oh man, I have this all the time because I'm always switching between different scopes. We try really hard to layout the buttons in a way that makes sense for that specific scope, knowing that 95% of the users will be using just that scope and not doing a lot of switching around like the lucky users do.

Do a "secure erase" from the utility menu or I *think* loading an empty splashscreen.jpg will work, too. I need to do some digging in old e-mails to find out. Or just try it when I'm next to my scope :).

I see Mike has the updated MSOX logic cable in this picture.
Daniel can you tell us if it offers a performance improvement over the original woven cable or is it simply a cost reduced version?
As this is rather off topic in this thread feel free to include a nice scope boot screen with your response. :)

Interesting, for some reasons I prefer the MSO7104B over MSOX3104A. Mostly because of the larger and more crisp screen and the faster response on all knobs.

I am not sure if I would like the touch so much but one thing that seems to be really great on the new 3000T series are the extra measurements and not just limited to 4 as in the older 3000 and 7000 models.

How is the noise level with shorted inputs? My DSO7104A is rather noisy even with bandwidth limiting on which results in rather thick traces; I guess your DSO6000 series will be similar.

I think the thing about touch is that it's so common on other devices now that you tend to just start using it instinctively, especially on a new unit when you're not familiar with the knob locations and menu structure.

It appears that you can pretty much drive it entirely from the touchscreen but I don't think this is especially useful as knobs are just better for basic functions.

Fantastic! <3 Thank you Mike!
