As a first or only scope, I'd go for the 54624a every day of the week. IMHO analog scopes are more pleasant to use. There are however things you can do with a digital scope that an analog scope just won't do, such as looking at slow or one-time events and looking at pre-trigger signal.
The 54624a also will do automated measurements for you, it has much more capable triggering than the 465 and it can do FFT - it's not super-awesome, but it does it.
I have a 54622D, and while my Tek 2467 is my favorite scope in usability, I can say I don't hate the usability of the 54622D. It drives pretty much like an analog scope...
