DC Bench supply, compact, portable and battery powered?
« on: November 08, 2019, 11:01:45 pm »
Hi

I'm looking for a compact, portable DC "bench" supply to take with me for troubleshooting on site.
It should have 1-2 Outputs, ~1V to ~30V, 1-2A out, the usuall CC/CV etc functionality. Internal battery should primarily allow for quick testing and not add too much bulk. External USB / USB-C would be nice too so it could be powered via a laptop / power bank.

I have of course seen the chinese RD DP30V5A which can be moded with a battery and a boost converter into a small casing, but I was really wondering if there isn't a finished product out there yet?

Maybe MDP-XP is now your only choice (productized)

Hello,
I am also looking for a portable battery powered power supply. 1-2 channels, up 2-3A max., up to 30V.
Is there anything else than the MDP-XP available meanwhile?

Maybe the FNIRSI DC-6006L: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001530484759.html

Only one channel, and no internal battery - but it can be powered off USB C PD.
When using PD you'll be limited by max voltage of about 18V as it is buck only no boost.  You can get more with a different external source.

I've got one on order, as it looks pretty neat.  There are reviews on Youtube (in Russian).
Annoyingly the link for the manual download isn't working.

Hello,

thank you for the info.
I haven't found specs for ripple and noise, could you do a measurement when you receive yours?
