Agilent 2000x series scope dealer
« on: May 17, 2013, 01:19:47 am »
Hi everyone,

Can someone point me in the right direction towards a reputable Agilent dealer here in the UK? I'm looking at getting a 2000 series scope to join my rigol 1052E.

I need to sum up the costs. Also does the Agilent 2000 series still hold it's own or is there something better price per buck these days? I'd be willing to look 2nd hand too if anyone knows anything but I'll put another post in the buy/sell section about that.

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Keep an eye on the AgilentUsed eBay seller as they offer the best prices by far on like new, CertiPrime with full warranties. They are actually Agilent's eBay seller.

I don't know about sellers or prices for the UK but several people were kind enough to give me feedback on the Agilent 2000X series price per buck in my thread here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/looking-for-opinions-before-buying-agilent-msox2024a/

In short, depending on exactly which model you're looking at (2 channel, 4 channel?  BW?  DSO/MSO?) an Agilent is not a choice you'll have to regret.  There are a few drawbacks but they are fairly solid scopes.  As for price/buck though, they probably don't offer the best value.  The Rigol DS2000 series (2-channels only) or GW-Instek GDS-2000A series (up to 4-channel with LA option) may be better alternatives.

Good luck!

They don't call them CertiPrime anymore - they now use the term Premium Used :

There aren't any on at the moment.

I think Agilent keeps quite a tight control on prices via its normal dealers so I think it is difficult to get discounts but I've not really tried.

Farnell sell them new, and they did have some of the CertiPrime ones themselves which they were selling at a mark up (still 25% down on the new price), but I think they have now sold out.

If you aren't in a hurry and contact Agilent UK themselves they will send you an e-mail when any are available on the e-bay store.

Not sure how much you were looking to spend, but the MSOX7014B is usually up there from AgilentUsed as well and I have seen them accept offers as low as $3250 for that unit which is a VERY good price. LINK

Thanks everyone, some really helpful stuff there. I've noticed if you buy new at the minute the DMM and Wavegen functions are bundled free too. I'll send them an email though and see if anything comes of it first in the 2nd hand market.

Many thanks
Andrew

What country is that deal for? Agilent very often restricts certain deals to specific geographical areas.
