34972A with 34901A 20CH card: Extra relays [193:199]?
« on: October 27, 2022, 06:33:06 pm »
Recently I replaced all the relays on the 34901A 20CH card.  Everything went smoothly and the card works 100%   After using SCPI to resett the relay count on the card, which is installed in slot 1, I query the relay count through the front panel for Channels  [101:122]

During this relay-count browsing operation I saw additional channels in the RELAY COUNTS menu.

Channels "1", "2" and "3" correspond to three internal relays on the PCBs inside the 34972A, which have ref designators "K102", "K103" and "K104"   This is apparent from the service manual and the user guide for the 34972A

However, at the tail end of the RELAY COUNTS menu as I'm scrolling through, there exists additional relays with counts on them:   Looks like channels [193:199] also have counts on them.  But I cannot find any documentation or reference in either documents I mentioned above as to where these 7 relays exist.  I only see three relay symbols in the 34972A schematics for the aforementioned channels [1:3]    but nothing for [193:199]

What are these channels [193:199]? Are they real or are they virtual?   Where do they exist on the PCBs and does anybody here know their function?

A bit late to the party, but I just traced this out on a few boards today for the same reasons. Replacing relays etc...
I think I got it mostly figured out...
Also, Schematics attached.

34901A
01 - 20 = K401 - K420 (Omron G6SU-2-DC3)
21 - 22 = Unsure, but appears to be relay 95 maybe?
93 = K523 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)
94 = K524 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)
95 = K522 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)
96 = K521 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)
97 = K423 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)
98 = K421 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)
99 = K422 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)

34908A
01 - 40 = K401 - K420 (Counted 1-20 for first contact for each relay in order, then 21-40 for the second contact of each relay in order) (Omron G6SU-2-DC3)
98 = first contact of K421 (Omron G6S-2-DC4.5)
99 = second contact of K421

I checked my 34901A. I can't figure out how they assigned channels 193-194-195-196.

Attached the relay cycles values when switching functions if someone is smarter.
