Searching for a Linear UHF RFID Antenna with 4dBi
« on: December 20, 2023, 01:52:53 pm »
Hello everyone,

I spent endless hours searching for an antenna that I could use on my project. I need a Linear UHF RFID with a narrow BeamWidth (less than 10 degrees) and around 4dBi gain that can fit on a device 80mm x 70mm. Do you know if it even exists this type of antenna? I'm quite new in the field so I would really appreciate it if you know someone who sells these types of antennas.

Thanks in Advance.

Unfortunately such an antenna doesn't exist.

Assuming the frequency used is in the 400 Mhz range and you are in ITU region 1.
If you dont have the gain requirement and the beamwith  you will be able to find antennas that fits on the unit.
For the 400 Mhz frequencies there are plenty of redused size antennas.

There are free usage frequencies still UHF in the 800 Mhz range 900 Mhz range and in the 2200-2500 Mhz range. At higher frequencies it might be possible to fulfill your requirements.

Thank you guys. The frequency that I want to use is from 900mHz-980mHz. Ok I thought so that it would be difficult to find such an antenna. At least are there any linear polarised antennas with super narrow beamwidth? Beamwidth is more important than Gain.

Gain goes hand in hand with the beamwidth of the antenna.

Not the frequency range you need but just an example of what to expect. A long Yagi antenna that approaches the beamwidth you are looking for. The more than 60 elements used for this, leads to an antenna length (~6m) that is nowhere near the dimensions you mentioned.

Grid-type parabolic antenna with a stiff price, ~1,2m diameter and beamwidth still above what you are looking for.

700-990MHz parabolic antennas with diameters of 2,3 or 4m that meet or exceed your demands regarding beamwidth.

Chinese version of a gridtype parabolic antenna for 900MHz. To be honest the published beamwidth looks bogus for such a small antenna and only 15dBi of gain.
