1575Mhz 50Ohm patch antenna
« on: May 24, 2022, 06:25:54 pm »
Hello,

I need to design a 1575 MHz 50 Ohm input impedance patch antenna and don't know where to start. Some of the calculators I've tried give the dimensions of the antenna disregarding the input impedance. How could I match the input impedance? I've attached the calculations for the dimensions

That's a GPS frequency, I assume this is a receive-only project...   The matching will probably be done with striplines rather than discrete components.  Do you have a means to measure the impedance of the patch?  I know it says 197Ω in the calculator, but is that purely resistive?   Some antennas have a better pattern away from resonance so I wonder what that calculator is doing...
