Experiments with an SAA1057 Synth PCB from a Revox B261 Tuner

I have finally found some BASIC code for a PIC16F628A MCU that I can use to control a spare SAA1057 based synthesizer PCB that is used in a Revox B261 FM tuner. I have attached the schematic of this synthesizer below. Here is more information about the digital control system of this tuner
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/microcontrollers/old-cbus-serial-protocol-specification-any-info-out-here/msg4348648/#msg4348648
I am just wondering if it is as simple as just applying the required supply voltage to this synth PCB, or do I have to create something for the tuning voltage to control. The local oscillator is already on the PCB and its output is supplied to the balanced mixer through a buffer transformer.
I just want to control the SAA1057 using the PIC16F628A and see what happens. Would this work?
PS, I intend to translate the BASIC code to C and move it to a more recent PIC (maybe a PIC18F16Q41) later on.

Well, you're going to need +15, -15 and +33V but outside of that, yeah, it really should be as "simple" as hooking up a CPU and have it set up the dividers, counters etc. in the chip, it looks like everything else is already there.
