Decent pocket microscope?
« on: April 22, 2015, 08:22:43 am »
Anyone have suggestions on a good pocket microscope.

I'm wanting one that takes AA or AAA batteries if possible. Interested in the eyepiece type not the lcd screen type. Magnification is not so important, just seeing whats out there.

I like these. A loupe is not a microscope but a metal one with fold out lens is perfect for fast checking. You can get them with a light. Appropriate magnification for pcb inspection.

I found my loupe useful checking my soldering with through-hole stuff.  I found my loupe indispensable doing sub-milli-meter SMD stuff - even just to locate where is pin 1 and where is the solder pad.

Search eBay or AliExpress even if you don't want to buy from them.  That is a good way to find out if someone makes something close to exactly what you want.

Even if you don't want to buy from them, at least that can answer "if anyone makes something like that."  If someone makes it, others from places you prefer may make it too.
