I had a "free" one offered by my Medicare intermediary (age 80). My thinking was that the idea sounded good for someone living alone in a rural area. After 2 weeks, I turned it off and tried to return it. The Medicare intermediary wasn't interested. It was disassembled, then put in the trash.
Problems:
1) False alarms. My contact person (daughter) ws worried to death. She survived.
2) Rural community, trees, and medi-alert do not work well together. Most of the time there was not 2-way communication, hence the false alarms.
Solution:
I send an email when I start some dangerous thing outside, then cancel the alert to my contact person when I am done.
