Thanks Mike.  Luckily the grime on knobs and body is commonly due to our body oils by touching it; luckily most of such grime we create can easily be washout out with just regular soap and water.  I do the same, soak in soap, to save labor; another item that helps is warm water.  If you have one handy, a burst with ultrasonic cleaner will loosen anything further.

Always good to see a well made device.  The scope is made in Malaysia too isn't it?  It lists for about $12K US, has the price changed markedly in all that time?
Best Wishes,

Thanks for the show. Makes a change seeing you tear down something you have to put back together afterwards :)

Think it was about GB£6500 when I bought it about 8 yrs ago, but a year or two later they made 8M RAM and 3yr warranty standard and increased the price.

Yes thanks for the video that was great as usual.

I usually use crushed dishwasher tabs for hard cleaning / soaking. I have not tried washing powder. :-) but will try that next time.

Regarding normal soap: Dishwasher tabs and washing powder contains enzymes that break down organic matter. That is why they usually work better than normal soap.
