i dunno about anyone else but i prefer a meter with an off /on push button instead of turning the rotary switch to the off posision.i recently been thinking of he wear and tear on the wiper connectors everytime the meter is turned off with the rotary switch.i've had a few meters that have worn out this way.what u think ?

I prefer a dedicated ON/Off switch myself, but I guess that multimeter designers may prefer using the rotary switches for the reason that in the OFF position, the input terminals can be switched off.

If I am using 5 multimeters on a bench, I like having them all set to the function and range (if it is not auto ranging) that I want, and having the option of just turning off the meters when I take a break.

I do like the idea of a separate On/Off switch, but so far I haven't had a dead rotary selector switch (I'm not using mine 8+ hrs a day though). In my case, I seem to kill mine by dropping them one time too many (I'm a walking disaster in terms of clumsiness).

I hadn't thought of it myself but yes a dedicated on/off clunker would be nice however I don't think I can live without the auto shut-off feature these days, I am terrible for forgetting I've left battery things turned on.
