Solder fume extractor advice
« on: September 30, 2020, 06:41:07 am »
Hi Eevblog forum :)

I want to upgrade my solder fume extractor since it does a poor job.
I resently saw Daves mail video and he made a small test on this one:

KOTTO Soldering Fume Extractor  https://amzn.to/32TlzKm
Where it seems like the HEPA filter isn't included but can be bought on the side.

I am curius if you think this would be good enough as your main soldering fume extractor or I should spent some more money and get Kingsom KS-180 HEPA shown in one of Dave's other videos (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Bff...). However I am not able to find any replacement filters for this model anywhere

Mentioned but must have been in another thread, how many hours of soldering? <2hrs per week I would consider using this device, >2hrs per week no. If it doesn't include HEPA filter, then straight up no.
If you have the ability to vent outside then only a fan and dryer vent are required, which is cheap. There are a few fume extractor discussions here if you search.

I like to use my 3M Half-Face Respirator for this task. So much smaller than a fume extractor unit.
goto considered awesome!
