Snooker Game Teardown
« on: February 03, 2013, 08:45:42 pm »
I was looking through some boxes in the loft the other day and came across my old little snooker game. I used to have quite a lot of fun with this :).

Basically, you just move the cursor around the table using the right and left keys, then use the power button to determine the amount of power to apply to the ball, and the ball moves in the direction of the cursor.

The first photo shows the unit itself.
The second photo shows the rear of the unit. It takes two AAA cells.
The third photo shows its PCB. The PCB itself looks quite nice, but those components look a little dodgy ;). There's also a little piezo speaker.
The fourth photo shows the other side of the PCB with the blob chip. I wonder what the chip actually is. Probably some custom device?
The fifth photo shows the LCD display, with several seven segment displays and the matrix of snooker balls.
The sixth photo shows the snooker table background.

BTW, the game still works fine, and is still fun :).
