ESD mat for new bench
« on: August 15, 2018, 05:59:21 am »
I just got a new stainless steel workbench and need to get an ESD mat for it. I'd like a puncture resistant and more or less heat proof mat but I'd also like to not buy 25'-50' of the stuff when I only need 6'. Any suggestions and or recommended places to purchase?

I bought the Sierra FT Series Rubber Mat from All-Spec.  I'm very happy with it (24"x48" in dark blue).

Thanks. I ordered a bertech high temp usa mat which comes today. If it doesn't quite work for me I'll try one of those out. Has your mat been good with abrasion and puncture resistance? Any issues with the iron?

I haven't put it to the test.  But, it has been holding well and I like that it is thin.
However, I've since moved the soldering station to another desk because I was getting solder flakes on the mat and didn't want them getting in my PCBs.
It looks like the same brand mat that Dave put on his benches and did a review on.  Here's one of them:
