Rework Station: Metcal HCT900 vs Quick861DW
« on: August 14, 2017, 04:50:29 am »
Hi guys, so like the title, I need to get a new rework station for pcb repair. Most of my repairs will be phone and laptop pcb. So basically need a station that accurate and fast heating. I did quite a bunch of research and heard a lot of good stuff about this Chinese Quick 861DW guy, I was about to buy it but I'm in Australia/Melbourne, and you know that it is really hard to get these equipment over here so of course I have to buy it from ebay, but again, most seller is oversea, takes really long to ship and apparently they don't even mention about the warranty term. The price is also quite high as well since It got so famous. I was a bit hesitate and today Mektronics (largest OZ tools and equipment supplier) has Metcal HCT-900 on sale. Here are some of my thought:

+Metcal HCT-900: (oz stock for $530 Aud) https://www.mektronics.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/7372/s/oki-hot-air-convection-tool-220v/category/13/
Australia Stock
12 months Aus warranty
Fast shipping
Not a lot of reviews, so I have no idea how well it perform

+Quick 861DW: (China stock of course, eBay ranges from 350-550)
China Stock
Pretty hard to find in Australia, only eBay has it
Warranty term is unclear
Shipping from 7 days to 30 days (depends on seller)
Lots of good review.

So yeah, which one do you think I should pick? Metcal HCT-900 and QUICK 861DW. Any input would be greatly appreciated, and of course you can just give me another good station advise, but again it has to be easy to pick up in Australia  |O |O |O

Thanks guys

Thank you so much for your reply. Yeah, I initially wanted to go for Quick as well, but it is extremely hard to get one in Australia. Any recommended online store that does international shipping? As for the preheater, I already owned the the Hakko FR 830 unit.
