Question about Hakko 951 sleep function
« on: October 29, 2017, 09:35:17 pm »
I got a new Hakko 951 and am just getting it set up.

I am either confused about sleep mode, or my unit is faulty. Hope you fine people can clear it up for me.

  • I turn the unit on, with the iron in the stand. The display counts up to the set temperature (650°F in my case)
  • I take the iron out of the holder and soldier a joint.
  • I put the iron back in the stand and the display switches to "SLP"
My question is that when I take the iron back out of the stand, the display does not switch back to the temperture, it just keeps saying "SLP".

It says SLP until I switch the power on the base off and then back on again.

Am I missing something? Do I have to touch the iron to a joint to have sleep mode turn off? Is there some setting I missing? Or is my unit just borked?

Thanks!

Thanks. Interestingly, my unit has a very similar manual, but does not include instructions on setting the parameters.

The issue I was having was due to the sleep cable only being half seated in the iron holder.

All better now.

Thanks.
