Metcal/OKI Workstand
« on: October 01, 2015, 02:04:02 pm »
I recently picked up a Metcal/OKI PS-900 station.  On testing it I noted that the iron stayed hot in the workstand.  So I assumed that I had a No-Sleep workstand.  I ordered a Auto Sleep workstand and the iron drops to a standby temperature in it.  Looking at the two I can't see any difference between them.  The data provide by Metcal doesn't provide much information.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the stands?  Any way to identify them?  There are no part numbers on them so that's out.

Thanks,
Fat

They add magnets to the sleep versions.

There is a strong magnet to saturate the tip, it will still be hot to touch.

Thanks, I wondered if it was a magnet. Now I can check the one that came with it.  I appreciate your help.
