Hakko Nozzles vs 3rd party?
« on: November 02, 2013, 01:31:58 am »
I bought a Hakko rework station a few days ago and am looking to get some tips for it. Nothing special at the moment, but I am seeing a lot of cheap nozzles on eBay where Hakko's nozzles can run from $20 to 300 dollars! Would I see much of a difference between hakko and 3rd party?

I think you meant max 30 USD  ;)
Anyways yeah Hakko tips are expensive but worth it. Once I tried a 3 party replacement tip with my 888 but the results where very unsatisfactory. It worked. But the solder did not flow on it so easily, and sometimes it did not stick to it as good as with the original, and it required much more constant maintenance (meaning: you had to be very thorough in cleaning it when turning the iron off, otherwise at the next start was troublesome). Can't really comment on longevity tough as I gave up on it after a few week's

Yes they are cheap on eBay there is about 6 different clone nozzle packs from various sellers $1-2 each is the going rate in bulk.
I recommend you get a list from Hakko and go completely through eBay as what one guy sells for $100 another sells for $10.
