Multicore solder wire question.
« on: May 26, 2014, 02:02:46 pm »
Hallo guys. I buy this reel with some tips and other product but I'm not sure if it is a genuine product or fake. I see the Henkel sheets and i find diameter, but if you search 0.46 mm wire (Dave use it and sure some of you I think) you don't find. Also I don't find list of all wires because I don't find Multicore site... Can you help me? Thank you so much for support.
Simone

There are .51 mm and .39 mm as well:

http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/soldering-desoldering-rework-products/solder/1310838?k=multicore

Seems like a gauge between .39 and .51 is missing?

Well...

Evil element 14 (kidding cuz I like them) has them:

Edit, link to the 60-40:

But I guess they use the .56mm not this one.

Multicore is USA brand or Malaysia brand?

Seems like Multicore is owned by Henkel, also the www.multicore.com on the forbidden page that comes up, the contact webmaster e-mail is: webmaster@henkel.com

Weird the datasheet points to loctite (also owned by henkel)
Older datasheets point to www.multicore.com.

WhoIs on multicore.com gives this:

I'm looking to see when this happened but seems like it was purchased and they are moving their product line to loctite.

Seems it's been owned by Henkel for quite a while, way back machine shows the henkel logo appear on September 25th 2002 (12 years ago)

https://web.archive.org/web/20020925081402/http://multicore.com/

Not sure about the transition to Loctite, but the Loctite logo was on the website as well.  :-//

And many of the pictures at digikey shows the manufactured in Malaysia.

But I don't know the exact composition what Dave uses as far as the resin type.

Neither; Multicore is a European brand. Was UK, but apparently now part of Henkel as noted above.

Thanks guys for all information. I hope only this solder wire works well. I paid 11 euro without tax (Iva in Italy) from serious seller. Is a really good price. I hope is a true multicore
