Good quality chineese soldering station
« on: August 12, 2023, 02:10:11 pm »
Hey guys
At work i use the jbc soldering station and i realy like it - so i decided to buy a clone .
After watching some video reviews i bought the SUGON clone that turned to be a total crap that except for looking and feeling nice - it couldnt heatup or maintain temperature at all
So any recomendations for other jbc clone that could be used for fine work like 0402 0603 but also can heatup and tin coat small poligons?
And if posible that could use original jbc catridges?

When buying clone irons, it's a good idea to pick one that uses the same tip format as genuine ones.
That way you can put a genuine tip on it.
Normally what makes an iron work well is the tip coatings and quality.

I've used a few china irons over the years and unit assembly / quality control, and tip quality are almost all of the problems you encounter. Also good idea to check grounding and ensure the power switch is on the phase line.

If I had to guess, your one not getting hot enough is probably an assembly problem. Dry solder joint or bad connector or something.

Any T12 from KSGER or Quicko with a real STM32 on it. So you can use David Alfa's custom firmware. You can mod it to work with JBC handles, it's said it's not dificult. They have enough power to work with SMD components. You could also try original T12 Hakko tips without any modding. Pushing the adjustments in that custom firmware and using a D52 tip will allow you to solder almost anything. I'm happy with my quicko and Hakko T12 clone tips.

Check out the AIXUN T3B
Has several handle sizes such as T115 and T210
Fits the original JBC tips too.
When it fits stop using the hammer

as far as ones from china the aixun ones are hands down the best imo out there. and the 420 series is the best of them. but the a and b models work excellent. i also have the sugon and hated it i gave it away if im being honest when i compared it to the aixun. my favorite of them is the 420d. but really any of the aixun ones work very well and they have most if not all of the bugs by now worked out of them firmware wise.

Sugon should be decent,
Did you try your genuine JBC tips in it?
Did you calibrate the temperature?

It's pretty likely his one has some sort of a fault. Intermittent or otherwise.

When JBC clone sucks, you should change the cartridges to something better, preferably original. Unless station outputs lower voltage (unlikely), there should be no large difference in performance. If you use the same crap cartridges on original JBC station, most likely the result will be exactly the same.

GEEBOON TC20B 380W  JBC C470, C245, C210, C115, Hakko T12
I'd guess those Geeboon stations will have one more "evolution" round before they will start to appear also on Aliexpress, under plenty of new brandnames

AiXun T420D is the best-made Chinese soldering station in the JBC style that I've seen so far. It also has manufacturer support and frequent, easy firmware updates, which is uncommon for such equipment from China. There is cheaper single-channel version available (T420) if you don't need the dual workstation.

Holier than though...oron. Chinese produce quite a bit of top notch or even best in class equipment even with domestic R&D (DJI drones for example).

I'll stress that this thread looks stupid to me. All discussion about station itself and total disregard to cartridges which were used (except Psi). Those are where 90% of performance comes from. From what I've seen, SUGON is completely OK and works almost as original JBC when original cartridges are used.

I disagree. Because you always buy a original JBC tip, but you are stuck with the station. I am in the same boat right now with two stations using the Hakko 900M type tip. IMHO both underperform.

Currently looking into:

KSGER STM32 V3.1S
+Cheap <$50
- Can use only T12 (should be enough actually)

AIXUN T3A
+JBC clone stand (optional)
+ Great review
- Well over $100

Geeboon TC20A
+ Well below $50
+ Can use T20, C245, C210, C115 handles/tips
- No reviews yet
- Can't find outside Taobao

AIFEN / 爱风 A9pro
+ with holder
+ can set 3 temps
+ well below $100
- No T12 (but C***)

All price ideas from Taobao.com

The Geeboon looks tempting, the Ksger is sort of well known for years and similar priced. I think I will go with the Geeboon.

Update:  Geeboon TC20A - first impression
Ordered Saturday, received Monday. Not too bad ;-) Well packed.
Surprise 1: The paper manual has English!
Surprise 2: The stand does not suit T12 tips. Stand too short, part holes too small, and worst - bottom not flat, it wobbles (which is not a big deal since it can't be used anyway)

https://streamable.com/6vf7jy

Station works and can be set to English. I think I will buy also the other handpieces, C210 etc, need to have a look.

After using it for a while.....
  • Their website is https://geeboon.com (not much to see)
  • The heat-up time to 350°C is about 20-30 Seconds (that is when the solder on a T12 tipp melts) - seems slow, or?
  • The sleep mode on the supplied T12 hand piece is not very sensitive and it switches off while I work (switch off time can be set or disabled)

TC22 has a nice feature - Dynamic temperature compensation(DTC) and plenty of options, also it supports T245, 210, 115, and T12. I'd like to test it out. vulkan35, Do you have T245 and T210 handle pinouts?

The T210 and T245 connectors pinouts, were needed for comparison, but now I do not need them, I bought the GEEBOON TC22 station

I had another thread here if you want to add any details: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/geeboon-tc20a-240w-tc20b-380w-jbc-clone/

Maybe you can add some photos to determine what their claim means: "TC22 is an upgraded version of TC20 The circuit has been improved a lot."
