Get a cheap flexible Metal Pipe?
« on: November 18, 2020, 08:18:02 pm »
Hi
My local Shop sell such flexible Metal Pipe for 35€/m!  :wtf:
2,5cm - 5cm Diameter, Metal and Material for Mounting to a Metal or Plastic Box.
Simple I want put some Project stuff Outside in a Outdoor Box and need to connect 230V, Fiberglas Network,... to it who are not Outdoor Grade. The most easy way to protect them from Animals who want to make a bite Test is such full Metal Pipe who I nice and easy can stuck to Trees to get there where the Box is. With some nice Brown Spray Paint nobody will see them that easy.
So where to get them cheap? I am not willing to pay 35€ per Meter.
Thanks!

There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

flexible conduit AKA kopex sounds like the stuff your after, the genuine stuff isnt cheap, especially if your after  anything bigger than 25mm. what do you need,PVC covered metal, plain metal or just plain pvc?normally youd use standard conduit, bend it or put boxes in were  needed and only use the flexible for the final connection

Hi
I will mount a Outdoor Box: https://www.digitus.info/de/produkte/netzwerk-und-serverschraenke/netzwerkschraenke-wandmontage/19-wandgehaeuse-outdoor-ip55/ on a Pole in the Garden.
In there will some Equitment who use a ordinary power supply from 230V to 12V, 5V,...
Inside will be a Pi and a 1000Mb Media Converter to Glas.
So in the Pipe, Hose,... will run attleast a 230V Cable and a normal indoor 50m Glas Cable.

Since I dont found a good Metal Hose I think I will maybe stick with a thick PVC one and hope no Animal want a snack. Well I live in a Urban environment and there could be some wild fox, squirel, batcher,...

You are thinking about how it might work. You also need to think about how it might fail - technically, legally, and from an insurance point of view.

I'm an electronic engineer, and I know how different that is from being an electrical engineer qualified to work on high energy circuits.

I suggest that before you start work, you understand the local electrical codes, concentrating on the requirements that you find strange. They are there because people have been killed (or worse injured) and are aimed at preventing a repetition.

This is not RCD, but AFDD. Completely different type of device.

Well.. that thing is also an RCD.

Oh, and it'd be about €200 for no added protection.
