A recent conversation I was having with c4757p reminded me how crappy my no-name bread board was.
What are some good breadboard manufactures you would recommend to replace mine.

Something in the 1500 to 2000 tie-point range

I ordered few on Ebay, got one from local electronics supply store and had to throw them all out soon after. Only this ones from DigiKey I found usable but relatively cheap: http://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/TW-E40-1020/438-1045-ND/643111. They have self-adhesive tape on bottom and slide into on another to form bigger board as most others do.

What a coincidence. I just checked which ones we have in our school lab kits, because they're pretty decent. Those ones. I recommend them too

I'd still like to see breadboards for wider ICs and modules (either wider spacing or more than 5 holes in the row).

So far the closest I've seen are some pictures of an "antique" looking breadboard with a wider centre - I know I could stick 2 breadboards down to give a wider spacing but it's not the same.

I've also had good luck with boards from Wisher (not quite as solid as the 3M, but very nice), sold branded for Jameco and Radio Shack (not sure if all of RS breadboards are from Wisher, but at least this one is).

Thanks guys I think I have narrowed it down to 3M or global specialties.
As for components I just got it a couple weeks ago and only use 1/4 watt resistors and ceramic caps and 555 type ic's so no way near wore out.
If you see one on eBay with a green fiberglass base and spring clamps to connect power RUN don't walk away from it.

Elenco boards are pretty good, have about 20 of them at the school lab that i manage, haven't seen any real issues with connections yet. Only a couple burn marks and i tested them it seems to work fine so i am going to assume it is from user- error

we also have a couple of global specialties boards that are about 15 years old that seems to be holding up well

I've got an AD12, bought from Maplin - about the only thing worth buying from Maplin (an offline overpriced eBay in the UK)

But I like my small 3M one more.

The KandH look really good as well I'll add it to the list and I like the layout the vertical rows at the bottom. I don't have a problem spending some money this time so long as it will last.
I can guarantee I won't get cheap made this time to save a few bucks talk about headaches trying to get my circuits to work.

Seems like the 3M had the best reviews, so I bought 2 of them 

But I still managed to remain a cheapskate and stay true to "Don't know if I'd ever spend $45 or $50 (or $116 for the 3M) on a breadboard.", I purchased new old stock 

The small one is similar to mianchen's small 3M breadboard, 840 tie points ($10 + $5.95 shipping US) and I also got a slightly larger 1824 tie points 3M breadboard ($22 + $5.95 shipping US)...  they are $50 and $80 at DigiKey

And I like what it says on the package "Sturdy Metal Base Plate - to help minimize noise and voltage spikes in today's high speed circuits".    Why would K&H use ABS?

Have a number of the 3M boards, they've done me quite well.
