Hi,

Can anyone recommend what search terms to use to find maintained / latching surface mount switches on aliexpress or ebay. The ones I mean are the ones you push down with your finger, it clicks and you remove your finger and the switch pops back up a little, but not the full way up and is now latched in the closed position. You push it down again, it clicks, you remove your finger and it now pops back up the full distance onto the open position.

Every search term i use seems to just return "push button" or "tactile" switches, but of the ones that don't explicitly say "momentary" the rest either imply they are momentary or they don't explicitly say they are "latching" or "maintained" switches or push buttons. Am I using the wrong terminology or is it just cheap Chinese sellers not bothering to properly describe their products?

I know lots of people will have strong opinions about ebay and aliexpress, and I do happily use rapid /Farnell when I have a big order I want to place or I know that I need quality parts, but for the most part I can't meet their minimum order price for odds and ends and when all I want is a 10pence button or set of resistors/caps. For us amateurs ebay and aliexpress are invaluable and if you are somewhat selective of who / what you buy then you can get great value stuff.

Try "self locking" which is what some of the Chinese sellers seem to say for latching switches.

That brought up a lot more relevant results. Thank you
