Weller soldering iron power supply and pencil compatibilities?
« on: February 27, 2022, 11:42:59 pm »
Hi,

I have an old school Weller EC2100A-FE power supply and EC1201A-FE pencil.  It works perfectly at the moment, but i am aware that the equipment is old and discontinued.  So i'm wondering if newer pencils are compatible with the old power supply? And if so, how do i go about finding which pencils are compatible with it?  I've tried to Google but i only get compatible tips with EC2100, which i believe there isn't a pencil called EC2100.

Thanks

You already found the pencil was "EC1201" if you google that it will say "compatible with EC stations".
Google that and it gives some options, eg: https://www.weller-tools.com/consumer/USA/us/Weller+Consumer/Soldering+Stations/Electronic%2C+Repair%2C+and+Everyday/EC1302B

Considering the base is only 40W, and its old tech, its not worth upgrading just the handle. A T12 clone with tips for <$50 will outperform it.
