Hi -
I acquired (free) a very nice condition Hakko 808. It looks to have been barely used. The unit worked for a few days before the heating element died. Of course new parts are hard to come by and the elements are in the $70 range. Being a typical a engineer (i.e. cheap) I want to see if there is any hope at all in attempting a repair of the heating element. I've pulled the heating element and it shows as being open directly at the ceramic. With nothing to lose, I'm wondering if anyone has any advice to giving this repair a shot.
Your advice is welcome.
Thanks - Jim
