New chinese reflow ovens?
« on: September 06, 2018, 01:21:20 pm »
Hi!

I am looking for a bigger reflow oven and I came across Puhui T-937M. Need to mention, that several years ago I had small chinese reflow oven and it was very bad (some parts overheated, other not heated enough, I did all modifications and replace firmware but oven wasn't good).

As I see they changed the design slightly, increase the power and probably also did some other improvements. But what is bothering me is the fact, that there is not a single review/test on this oven ... Anyone here using it?
(Well, I am supposed to receive mine in a week from Poland and I will see, but I am really courious ...)

Regards,
Gregor

Ok, obviously too new, so I am the first user ;) Along the time the oven arrived (this morning, actually) and first impressions are pretty positive. Build quality is quite a step further from "old" chinese T962 we also had at the beginning (after this diesaster, we had LKPF Protoflow, which is ok but too small for some boards we develop). Working "out of the box" seems to be good. I had 3 mid-sized boards (approx 10x10 cm each) to reflow and I gave it a try. The result was quite good with no signs of over/under-heating areas, which were terrible at T962. I will try to put in some empty white PCBs, where overheating is clearly visible and give it a try in the next days.

Regards,
Gregor

How many IR lamps does this oven have? It seems six from the pictures on internet.

I hope you'll find time for a complete review or a teardown!
Thanks in advance.

Hi!

There are 10 heaters, 3.3 kW in total (measured). For now I can say that heating is distributed pretty good: there were no over/underburn zones with boards we did in the previous week. The PC SW is a bit stupid (but can be used ;) ), not to mention the SW on the oven itself: every time you have to go through the menu, select english language, control type (local profiles/PC) and profile ... But I can live with this ... (until something better appears ;) )

Will make some photos on Monday ...

Regards,
Gregor

Are you using external thermocouples attached to the board to measure thermal uniformity or is it based on visual observation?  We are going to have some relatively large panels - up to 400mm x 400mm evaluated in a PRO 1600 reflow oven https://www.atco-us.com/products/pro-1600-smt-reflow-ovens using the thermocouple attach method.  Curious if you have some data to compare.

I have been looking for a reflow oven big enough to handle a 300 x 220mm board. It looks like most of these units don't heat too well near the edges so I wanted to go somewhat oversize. Does make me wonder if they are really circulating the air well.

After looking through the options had settled on the Puhui T-937M. I have not purchased yet.

Puhui sells some models directly but this one was not listed. I contacted them and they replied I could order directly from them. Rather confusingly they attached a pdf showing all their models and specs - they seem to have more than shown on the website - and it showed the 937* models only accepted 50 Hz power.  After a few more emails it would appear the datasheet is wrong (I was guessing maybe the fan motors might be the issue, but seems so unlikely...).

They have been very responsive to my questions - like answering email in under an hour (during their business hours).  It's their National Holiday now so I plan to order after they return in a week.

I'll be very curious for any more info on how the 937M performs as I only found one other user that posted about it and that was in German and I don't know if Google xlated it all correctly.

My use will only be for a few days/month so it seems reasonable for that.

Thanks for sharing your experiences and if I do purchase the unit will do the same.
