What is this TO-92 package transistor
« on: April 24, 2015, 04:22:26 am »
The markings on it read as:

831A
975
EBC

Does anyone know what this is? Not really having any luck Googling it.
Thanks!

Maybe it's 2SK975 ?

Link : http://alltransistors.com/mosfet/transistor.php?transistor=799

Next time, try to google, for example by pairing "975" with some other keyword like transistor , or npn  and so on. Found the link above by searching with phrase "975 transistor".

EBC likely tells you which pins are E, B, C respectively.

Thank you both.

Mariush, it's funny you should suggest that. I did 831A transistor and 831A 975 transistor, but not 975 transistor.
Anyway. Now I can give it a test and see.

bson. I kinda hope that's not the case here. I would like this part to be a MOSFET as the datasheet Mariush found would suggest and E, B, and C are not usually used for those. But who knows, it could still be the case, especially if it is just a BJT. I can't say I've ever seen it labeled on a TO-92 package before though.

Anything like this?

I have this as NPN, general purpose.  House marked, good luck finding data.  Possibly Motorola?

It's a little like that though all screen printed. I think there's a small manufacturer's symbol on it but not one I recognized. I'll try to post a pic of it when I get home in a few hours.

That's the old Sprague logo.  I don't think you have much chance of finding data on this, but the "device tester" would at least tell you what it is: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/$20-lcr-esr-transistor-checker-project/
