Buying from precisegauge.com
« on: May 23, 2011, 05:48:20 am »
Has anyone purchased from precisegauge.com?

I am looking at getting a cheap UNI-T function generator and DC power supply. Their prices look good but not sure if they are trustworthy or not.

I was looking at the following items. If you know any other sellers that I can buy these from please let me know

Many websites use flags to indicate language. There is no major reason to quote prices in GBP if they trade in USD as the exchange rate depends on your card's rate.

The website looks iffy.  A whois search returns:

I'm the owner of precisegauge.com. For Uni-T, only 9000c series function generators can get English version, others are Chinese version. UTP3704 English version is available.

Sorry for the flag on website, I can't change to American flag, because it's fixed by the "web template". I'm the owner, not web maker.

I bought a LCR meter from Precisegauge.com recently.  The transaction went smoothly and the guy that manages the place was very responsive and answers emails quickly.  The meter and the accessories looked and worked fine.  The parcel was packed properly and the shipping was quite fast (8 days from China to Canada).  I found that the price listed for some of the items on the website were the same as that listed in a number of the local Chinese web-stores (for Chinese customers only) e.g. Taobao, which are usually a little lower than that listed on web-stores that are catered towards Westerner (non-Chinese).    I checked the postage displayed on the outside of my package, essentially the shipping cost that I was charged for my shipment => so I was not gouged.  Some store sell stuffs at low prices but charged outrageously high shipping and handling fees to cover the difference. Overall, I think this store is worth checking out.

I want to stressed that I am not related to the seller at all and was a bit apprehensive when I placed the order since it seemed that no one on the forum had bought from this store before.  Since I can pay with Paypal, I figured that if something went wrong, I just ask Paypal for my money back.

Hey technotronix,

Did you get that supply?  Looks like good value if it works as advertised.

I might get one if this guy turns out to be a reasonable supplier.

Keep us posted.

Yeah I got two of them. He sent me one Yori and one Vantek. If you make an order with him, make sure you specify that you want a Vantek without the spike issue. He will know what you are talking about.

I think if people get along well with each other, it'll depond on some "chemistry" things. Sometimes you just can't make friends with somebody even you are from the same place.

I only sell Vantek now, Yori is not available now.

I also purchased in his shop. Fast shipping and flexible. I asked for some accessories which he got for me for a very good price.
So buying there really is no problem (apart from the usual customs and wait stuff for international orders)
