Any news on Frank's ebay store?
« on: January 05, 2023, 09:23:46 pm »
Hi all

I'm currently in need of some good quality banana cables, and I've seen several good recommendations for Frank's ebay store (https://www.ebay.com/str/99centhobbies?_trkparms=folent%3A99centhobbies%7Cfolenttp%3A1&_trksid=p3542580.m47492.l74602). Having said that, when I started looking at it in December it said that the seller would be back on 12/26, then 1/2, then 1/6 and now 1/25. Am I looking at the wrong place?, I can wait for a month or so, but I would like to have an idea that this store will come back to business at some point in the future

Thanks

What a wierd question!

Why would anyone here know about that seller's business?

Why wait a month?

Why not avoid unknowns (and therefore your post) by simply buying what you want elsewhere?
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

I mean, its not that weird because that seller has an account here and discussed often.
But your other points are valid.

Not a weird question at all, I have bought from Franky before and still have a lot of things in my eBay basket.
His stuff has been excellent quality, so if anyone has a good source for equivalent quality, I'd like to hear of it!

The three questions I posed imply why the OP's question is wierd.imply

Whether or not Franky has an account here doesn't change that.

"Why would anyone here know about that seller's business?"

How is that not relevant to him having an account here? Someone might have bought or talked to him recently.

My points were - obviously - made in the context of the OP's post. Re-read that post.

It would be reasonable to ask Franky about his business, possibly by PM.

He is in Hong Kong and with Chinese New Year coming I would not hold my breath until mid-February.

Yes that would have been a more reasonable response to have posted.

Anyway, I sent him a PM with a link to this thread.

Hello all!

It's been a long while since I posted here!

Long story short - I moved to Australia a few years ago and passed on the daily operation of the business to my brother-in-law. I continued to help in answering some more technical customer questions. It went very well until COVID hit and most of the affordable postage services (that's eBay approved) to many international destinations from Hong Kong basically got shut down overnight. To this day many of the destinations still only have limited coverage with either very slow (and non-eBay friendly) or very expensive services. Having said that at least USA has finally become a viable destination again so my brother-in-law has finally re-opened the eBay store today!

For anyone interested please have a look on eBay again to see if your country is available for shipping now. Thanks!

Whether or not it was a weird question, it got good results.

No, it didn't get any result, and the OP has disappeared.

Another forum member was sensible enough to send a PM, and that got a useful result.

Just saw your interview made many yaers ago, nice to meet you OTA.

I live in Sham Tseng, HK, right under the airports departure/landing path.  There're certainly fewer flights in and out of the city these days, all due to travel restrictions and flight crew COVID test and isolation etc.  Fedex shut down its crew base in HK late 2021;  CX laid off most of the crew, sent planes to the desert and has just been getting back on its feet since.  So yeh, it's that bad.

OK.

Speaking for myself, I am happy this sequence of events occurred regardless of which events (weird or otherwise) were responsible for one or more of the outcomes.
