Problem with Samsung Smart TV -- it is attached to an external sound bar and the Speaker Setting has been set to "Receiver".  This has been working great for years.  The set recently developed a white spot on the screen, which I subsequently found was all too common on aging Samsung TVs (a damaged or disconnected reflector light).  But in following various suggestions about ways to try to fix the issue without either taking apart the set or totally replacing it, I did a full factory reset including pressing the power button for 30 seconds and leaving the set unplugged for 30 minutes.  After that, the white spot was (of course) not changed, so it's a hardware issue.  But NOW, the set will not retain its Speaker Setting -- when we set it to Receiver, it uses the sound bar fine on AV source (USB ports), but any time we change the source back over to HDMI port (our cable TV box), the setting changes back to TV Speaker.  Since it happened after my factory reset, it seems like the reset caused the sound problem -- no idea if this is accurate.  Could simply be that the TV is getting old and things happen...
Any idea what I might try for this, short of throwing the set away and buying a new one?  We're fully accustomed to watching the set with the white spot on the screen, but the sound problem is unacceptable.
