What does "jumping out" a circuit mean?
« on: January 31, 2015, 12:03:41 am »

I've often heard the phrase "jumping out a circuit" in electronics - but what does it mean?

I think it is actually "jumpering out a circuit"; that is to say using "jumpers" or link wires to bypass a bit of a circuit or to change its configuration.

FYI, a "jumper" is so named because it can jump across a gap, or jump from one place to another.

Sometimes equipment can be powered by other means and a removable jumper is there for this purpose.

For an external PSU.

Output stages to an external amp for example.

Damaged? One would need to know what part if the circuit was damaged.
