Sony Walkman TPS-L2 Battery Cover & SPring Help

Just replaced the belts on my vintage Sony Walkman TPS-L2 but don't recall how to reassemble the battery cover. There's a hinged metal bar at the bottom of the cover. Where does it go? How does the cover stay in place? I also can't get the bottom screw to align with the hole in the black piece inside battery compartment. Lastly, the tape door doesn't stay closed flush. Is it possible I stretched the spring and that's the cause because it's too long now? How to make the spring more compact so the door closes flush? Would rather not cut it. Videos and pics would help. Thanks!
