solaredge inverter repair and parts
« on: June 12, 2022, 08:48:23 pm »
I am trying to repair a solaredge 6000watt inverter. I have no manuals, but could use a schematic for the se6000-non wave model. In leiu of schematic, there are questionable parts to ID.  Attached are two pictures in a PDF of parts I have not found in the mutltude of image and numerical databases I have searched.  One is labeled igbt on the board and is a TO-252 D-pak (DINKB, ~6KOEC503 with a curvy-tail delta triangle, a curvy-tail Y triangle, and a "/" for the logo, with horizontal lines in the triangles and the slash), and the other is sot23 labeled Q1 of which there are two variants (34N with counterclockwise AD or in the picture 38" with no logo). the igbt has been without any hits.  the transistor 34N does list about 30 times as old parts, seemingly unlikely given the inverter is <10 years old. I would like to get datasheets, or who made the parts or part numbers, or hints.
thank you

Hi Strawberry and fzabkar,
I see now the reverse video effect hiding the ST logo on the igbt, so cool.
as for the 34N, there are two options.  I had found the 1061 possibility, but not the diodes device.  even searching back through my lookup references there is no mention of the diodes part.
Two quesitons:   what reference did you use that listed the diodes inc part if any in addition to smdmark that fzabkar used? and any ideas how to break the ambiquity between a mosfet and a voltage detector?  (maybe sharper turn on in the voltage detector?)
I am testing in circuit so external diodes are confounding.
thank you

Near the 34N part is its circuit reference, "Q1". That tells you that it is a transistor.

Hi,  simplicity would suggest you are right.  in looking for a confirmation, it happens the sot23 and sot 323 have pin spacing differences so this might confirm.
either way thanks for the input.

Update: solaredge inverter X2 cap
« Reply #6 on: June 14, 2022, 04:48:27 pm »
I still have no schematic and would really like to see the mapping between solaredge error codes and component monitoring points, but have been going solo.  The update is that reported error code 2X9 (according to solaredge means "ac current too high") really means that the output filter capacitor is bad.  This is interesting because the cap is a 6.8uf X2 that when in its failed state is not open and measures a few hundred pF. As a failed capacitor across the AC output, it is is leaking current orders of magnitude less than when in an operational state.  This brings up the curiousity of why solaredge thinks the ac current is too high. Maybe what they want to obscure is that the 30kHz pwm pushes current out on the AC leg ( without the X2 filter cap) and is being measured.  I have not a clue, beyond it is not current being measured through the X2 cap.
As for the X2 failed cap, externally it bulged on both large sides, maybe one mm, so subtle.  Upon surgery, a polyethylene looking solid seemed to have extruded from the center to cause the bulge on the sides.
The inverter now boot without error codes and seems to work, but more testing needed.

usually DClink voltage and bridge current is monitored
these cheap capacitors is common failure
