Is that the same, drop-in display? For that price I'll stop trying to save my display by turning down the brightness all the time.
Nearly.
The original display was a NEC NL6448BC20-08, the new one is a NEC NL6448BC20-08E.
The datasheet says:
"Comparison table of NL6448BC20-08E and NL6448BC20-08
Item | NL6448BC20-08E | NL6448BC20-08 |
Haze | 16% | 12% |
"
There was a cover screen glued onto the display with double-sided sticky foam tape. I didn't transfer this to the new lcd, and so there is a 3mm gap between display and front bezel. I don't care about that.
You need to reuse the inverter board and the display cable.
just another idea: The ccfl tubes seem to be accessibly easy. If they are going dark it might be enough to replace them with strips of white LEDs.

PS:
I don't know where you are located, but you could have a look at ebay #123530231897. You'll even get a new inverter board. The product description is wrong, though.
