Hi,
I'm new to the forum, but I literally spend nights reading the repair stories of the cool equipment
Some of the topics were also super useful to repair my Tektronix 2232 (particularly
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/tektronix-2232-scope-in-need-of-a-doctor/). Now, I would like to share back my experiences, maybe they will come useful to someone.
1) 270uF 4pin capIn any case, when recapping my Tek, I wanted to replace all power supply capacitor including the 4pin 270uF one. Unfortunately, it's not that easy to source a correct size capacitor in Europe. After seeing an adapter for 7xxx series (
https://github.com/peekpt/tekcaps), I decided go quickly draw an adapter for my case (and it should also fit Tektronix 2235 and 2246A and probably more). Here's the repo with Kicad files and gerbers for everyone to use:
https://github.com/dymczykm/22xx_tek_cap_4pin/See in the attachments how it looks (the cap was not soldered yet). Aaand it nicely fits, without colliding with the black plastic line filter cover.
2) Digital mode unreliable, after few minutes the screen was just blank (but the analog mode worked fine)It really sounded like a powers supply issue and indeed the light grey connectors (J9011 on the digital board) turned to be cracked and brittle. I attached a picture of the brittle connector.
I have desoldered the connector on the digital board and soldered the wires directly and crimped a new connector/pins on the other side:
- Molex 0008650115 gold-plated pins
- Molex 0009508081 3.96mm 8pin housing
Hope that helps someone with the 22xx family of scopes!
