Nixie tube driver transistor substitute.
« on: September 06, 2018, 11:15:25 pm »
I am repairing a 1969 Toshiba nixie tube calculator and have identified a dead power transistor which was the cause of a dead nixie.
I'm looking for a replacement / substitute but not having much luck.
Does anyone know if there is a modern equivalent available for this transistor? https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-file/854648/Sanyo/A429/1
Or is there another way I could drive the nixie with modern parts? I don't have any schematics for the calculator unfortunately.

Thanks in advance.

MPSA92 will probably work as a substitute for the 2SA429

MPSA42 is it's NPN compliment and is commonly used with nixie tubes.
