SOJ to SOP adapter board?
« on: April 06, 2024, 01:53:47 am »
A component I use with a SOP28 footprint is going obsolete, and what should work as a replacement is on a SOJ28 footprint. The pinouts are the same, but the SOJ just won't touch the pads on the current SOP board.

So I'd like to try out these chips before I commit to changing the board, but I'm having trouble finding little PCB or even socket adapters that would work for this combo. I'll whip up some little PCBs and have JLC make them if I have to, but before I spend $65 having that done, I have to imagine these exist somewhere for cheap?

Any sources?

Just fold out the J-leads from under the SOJ package with some tweezers and solder them on the SOP footprint?

Perhaps this? https://www.peconnectors.com/sockets-surface-mount/hws7261/

I couldn't find a TDS, but it looks like it uses the same SOJ footprint?

I'll give this a try, should probably work. Thanks for the idea!
